On Wednesday, January 20, 2021, and under the patronage of the General Manager of Jordan Food and Drug Administration , his Excellency Dr. Nizar Mhaidat, the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts hosted the launching ceremony of issuing the guideline for ” Safe Food Handling and Hygiene Standards “, which was developed in cooperation between Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA), The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities (MoTa), Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA), Jordan Restaurant Associations (JRA), Jordan Hotels Associations (JHA), USAID BEST, and The Royal Academy of Culinary Arts (RACA).
Dr. Mhaidat assured in his speech that this guideline aims at raising the standards of providing food in the tourism sector by ensuring safe and healthy food for Jordanians and tourists on the territory of the Kingdom while ensuring the communication of the necessary information to managers and employees responsible for food safety in the hospitality and hotel sectors and helping them train and qualify food handlers and food service managers to ensure that food safety protocols and health standards are in place.
For his part, Mr. Jacques Rossel the director of the academy affirmed that ” This collaboration amongst the hospitality and educational sector represented by the various organizations present here today, is a step forward to ensure a food safety culture could thrive in Jordan, and he believes that Jordan will be recognized internationally as a tourism destination for food and service safety”.
At the end of the ceremony, Dr. Mhaidat delivered certificates of appreciation to the team that prepared the guide.
